Support

Frequently asked questions.

Casewise (GoCasewise) helps with Australian legal research, AGLC4 referencing and drafting. Here is how it works, what to check and how to get started.

Accuracy and trust

Will CaseWise invent a case or a citation?

CaseWise uses source checks and provides source links, but it can still make mistakes or produce an unsupported reference. Check the original authority before relying on a citation.

Can I rely on Casewise without checking the sources?

No. Casewise answers and references can be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. Open the linked sources, confirm that each authority supports the relevant point, and check quotations and pinpoints against the original text.

What if Casewise cannot find a case or legislation?

Try a different phrasing, a known case name or citation, or a broader jurisdiction. An empty search result can reflect the search terms or gaps in coverage. Check the relevant court or legislation website before concluding that an authority does not exist.

Which Australian legal sources does Casewise search?

Casewise searches openly available Australian case law and legislation across Commonwealth, state and territory jurisdictions, with source links so you can check the original material. Coverage is not exhaustive: a missing search result does not mean an authority does not exist.

AGLC4 and referencing

Does Casewise support AGLC4 referencing?

Yes. Casewise supports AGLC4, the Australian Guide to Legal Citation, fourth edition. It checks references against AGLC4 rules and suggests corrections. Review the suggested changes against the handbook, your original sources and any requirements set by your faculty or publisher.

What does a correction look like?

The fault, the rule number behind it, and the corrected footnote. For example, an article title in double quotation marks is corrected to single, with the rule named, so you learn the rule rather than just accepting a fix.

Does it handle subsequent references?

Yes, in AGLC4 form: Ibid. and the short form Grattan (n 3) 84. The older "above n 3" style is obsolete and does not appear.

Will it produce a bibliography?

Yes, generated from the references in your document once the check has run.

Students and faculties

Can law students use Casewise for university work?

Check your university and assessment-specific AI rules first. Casewise can help you find sources and review referencing, but permission to use it depends on your course. Follow any disclosure requirements and check the sources yourself before submitting work.

Does it write my assignment for me?

It drafts documents you then edit, with real footnotes. The draft is a starting point, and the argument is still yours to make.

Is Casewise only for first-year law students?

No. Casewise supports Australian legal research, referencing and drafting for law students at different stages, as well as educational research and training for lawyers and other legal professionals. It remains an educational tool; it does not provide legal advice.

Billing

Where can I compare Casewise plans?

Current Go, Plus and Pro prices are published on the Pricing page. Compare the usage allowance and billing interval before choosing a plan, and review the final price, trial eligibility and renewal terms at checkout.

How is student status checked?

It is not checked. Plans are chosen by the allowance you need rather than by enrolment.

Do I need a card to create a Casewise account?

No. You can create an account and open the welcome experience without choosing a paid plan or entering a card. Creating an account does not start a paid subscription or include a new free-chat allowance. Choose a paid plan for research, drafting and review, or an eligible trial with a payment method. Existing accounts retain any introductory free chats they are already eligible for. Review the price and renewal terms before checkout.

Can an institution be invoiced?

Yes. Faculties and educational institutions can take group access priced per seat, and invoicing against an agreement is arranged when you talk to us.

Security

Does CaseWise store my documents?

Uploads and drafts are stored so you can come back to them, and deleted on request. Do not upload client information, privileged, confidential or court-restricted material, or personal information about another person.

Do you train models on my work?

No. Your uploads and drafts are never used to train the models behind CaseWise.

Which third parties are involved?

Model providers, hosting and error monitoring. A public list naming each one is not in place yet; it will be stated once it is.

Where is data held?

Uploads and drafts travel over TLS and are encrypted where they are stored. The hosting location and the retention periods are being confirmed and will be stated here once they are settled.

Access and pricing

How do I get started with Casewise?

Choose Get started, create your account and complete any email verification and terms steps. The general signup link opens the welcome experience. If you select a plan from the Pricing page instead, that choice is carried through signup so you can review it before checkout.

How much do Casewise subscriptions cost?

Monthly subscriptions are Go at A$29.99, Plus at A$59.99 and Pro at A$149.99, with a Pro 10× option at A$299.99. Annual billing options are listed on the Pricing page. Eligible new Go subscribers can choose a 7-day trial with a payment method; it renews at the selected price and interval unless cancelled. Review the terms at checkout.

Is this legal advice?

No. CaseWise is an AI-powered educational study tool, not a law firm or legal service. It does not provide legal advice.
